Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use Yapern, an open source public sub-yap. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using Yapern.

Who can use Yapern

You must be at least 13 years old, or meet any higher minimum age required where you live. If you are old enough to use Yapern but need an adult’s permission to agree to these terms under local law, ask a parent or guardian to review them with you and give permission.

Your account

You may use an email address and password to create an account. Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us if you believe someone has used your account without permission. Provide accurate information and keep your display name appropriate for a public sub-yap. You can edit your display name at Account.

Posts and public information

Sub-yap names and descriptions, post titles and bodies, and author display names and user identifiers can be viewed publicly, along with post times. Do not put information in a public sub-yap or post that you want to keep private.

You keep the rights you have in content you submit. You give Yapern permission to host, store, reproduce, display, and make that content available as needed to operate, display, secure, and moderate the service. This permission is limited to those purposes. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to post your content.

Acceptable use

Use Yapern lawfully and respectfully. Do not use it to post illegal or harmful content, harass others, spam, infringe someone’s rights, or interfere with the security or operation of the service. Do not attempt to access accounts, systems, or data without authorization.

Moderation and access

We may review public content and restrict or suspend access when reasonably needed to enforce these terms, respond to reports, or protect people and the service. We may remove content or limit features where appropriate. These actions do not affect rights that applicable law gives you.

Open source software

Yapern’s source code is available under the GNU General Public License version 3. That license gives you rights to use, study, modify, and share the covered software under its terms. Read the GPL v3 license for the full terms. These terms do not limit rights granted by that license.

Privacy and other services

The Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. Cloudflare hosts Yapern’s API, database, and static website and may handle information as needed to provide those services. Third-party sites and services have their own terms and privacy practices.

Availability and changes

Yapern may change over time, and access or features may sometimes be unavailable. We may update these terms by posting a new version here and changing the date above. Where required, we will provide notice or seek your agreement. You can stop using Yapern at any time.

Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, Yapern is provided “as is” and “as available,” without a promise that it will always be available or meet every need. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or limits consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
